Creative Mind!!

It was my birthday Monday and David asked me what kind of cake I wanted. I told him to surprise me:) Well, I was surprised--I had no idea how creative he could be! Check it out--a butter cream cake with chocolate pudding in the middle of it:

It is always a family effort to help make and clean up birthday cakes:) Here are some photos!

God is good!

On Saturday afternoon I was outside looking at the front yard that was covered with 2 fallen trees. David had just got up from his nap and the girls were out playing. A neighbor was out with us and I said "Wouldn't it be great if God would chop up these trees and clean up the yard!"

After a moment, I started in with my loppers chopping off the branches and my girls helped. Next thing I know, all the neighborhood kids (6 plus ours) showed up and were helping with the branches! Then, after that, another adult neighbor showed up with a saw and started helping. David got out his saw and then another neighbor came with his:) The short story is this---the trees were cleaned up!!!!!!

Another neighbor showed up with cupcakes and it was a great sight to see:)

Jessica said it looked like an Amish barn raising:)
We have great neighbors here and are so blessed! We serve an awesome GOD!
And now, here is the latest view of our front yard:)

...notice the sunlight we now have in our front yard!!

Hide and Seek!

I was working at the computer and realized that it was very-unusually- quiet in the house! I yelled for the girls and of course heard no reply. So, I went on a girl hunt:) They hide really well nowadays!

Finally, I opened the closet door in our room, and this is what I see

They were playing hide and seek with me---it would have been great to know this:) I just love them so much and enjoy them more and more as they grow:)

...until next time, bye!

And there was light!!

For those of you who don't know about our home and property, we have about 25 trees on our lot!! Yes, we live in the woods:) In the front, there are about 10 trees--2 of which are enormous Bradford Pears. They are notorious for having shallow roots and falling over when the wind blows!!! Here are some pics-a view of the house and a view from our front porch:

Now , we are 3 less trees and let me say WOW!!!!! I always knew it was darker on our property and in the house but now---there is light:)

Every time I come and go now, I am in awe! The neighbors are in awe as well! Christy looked out her window and called me to tell me that she can see my house now:)
...Another plus is that we got some fire wood :)

Tate Farm

We spent Tuesday afternoon as a family enjoying some fall activities at a local farm:) We took a hay ride out to pick pumpkins---you could have any pumpkin in the patch! The catch was that you had to be able to carry it:)
After that, we dropped our pumpkins off at the pumkin sitter and enjoyed some time at the farm:) The girls enjoyed the petting zoo... Dalaina was very curious about that goat!!!!
...They also enjoyed playing in the large bins of corn :) They made "corn angels" --that's as close to snow angels they'll get here in the south:(

Then, we did some other things and that was it!

Overall, we had a great day!!!

Trip to the Burgh

We took a trip last week to see the family in Pittsburgh:) The 12 hour car ride there was actually not bad--the girls were very good:) ...The trip home was not the same story:(

The girls were happy to see their aunts, uncles, cousins, and most of all Gramma

While we were there, they played and played, and we celebrated some fall birthdays, went to Sorgel's (an orchard/farm) and just hung out:)

Overall, we had a great week! We enjoyed each other and the beautiful fall weather:)

Flooring or a Desk??

The girls have found great use for our stack of boxes of hardwood flooring!!! They use it as their drawing place. The great thing is that they know they can draw on the boxes too:) They enjoy it so much, I was thinking we should just leave it!

...not:)

Mom's shoes

The girls have recently discovered that my closet has purses and shoes!!! So, when I was in the kitchen preparing dinner one day, they had some fun exploring.

It is quite entertaining to see them attempt to walk in my shoes:) They really like to hear their shoes click on the floor:)

Child Labor

...remind me, just what are the laws about child labor?? Is it worse because they won't get paid for their work?

...Well, let me assure you that this was their idea:) Their goal was to jump in the pile, but as you can see, there was no "pile" to jump in :( I told them that in a few weeks there would be more than enough!!!!!!!!!!
