Day 2--New Mexico

The next day took us through Texas. We came upon this restaurant---the prior 60miles there were huge signs that said free steak! So, of course we stopped there!!!!!!

There was a catch ---you had to eat a 72ounce steak, side salad, dinner roll, a baked potato, and 3 shrimp in 1hour. If you were successful, your meal was free! If you could not finish, your price was $72.00!!!!!!!!!!!!! The statistics are interesting>

They say that everything is bigger in Texas:)

With each child's meal you get a free cowgirl hat! The girls thought it was great:)

(huge slice of carrot cake!)
Then they learned how to shoot guns with their Dad:)

this very large rocker was fun:)

They are official cowgirls now and enjoyed those hats the rest of the trip!!! They can't wait to show their friends Jackson and Carson!!!!!!!
That night, our travels stopped somewhere near Albuquerque, NM.

Day 1---Oklahoma

The first day was alot of country scenery. We headed toward Memphis then through Arkansas and Oklahoma. A bunch of wide open space!!!!

We made it to somewhere near Oklahoma City that night. There were many Indian related sites and trading posts along the way.

This large mural was painted on the back of an old hotel/motel. It was a beautiful day:) At this stop there were also live Bison which was pretty cool!

It turned out to be a great place to stop because the girls could run, scream, climb, and do whatever --in all of the open space:)

To Alabama

We can make it from the burgh to AL in 12hrs---long day! Anyway, we made it back, slept, got up, packed all dayWednesday-feb 11th. We packed up the Dodge and the new minivan---(Iguess I left that part of the story out)
Um, I got a new VW Routan while up north!! Much better ride and trip for all:) And, for those of you suspect that this may have been in retalliation to the Dodge-I assure you that was not the case!! The Toyota had 80,000miles, broken lights inside, old brakes, etc....
Anywhooooo, we slept, got up and headed out west on Feb 12th :)
See the joy----they love the Van!!!!!

First stop-Pittsburgh

This cross country journey began in Alabama and headed north...The girls and I drove to Pittsburgh, PA to pick up Grandma---she was willing to make this journey with us. (not sure if that makes her crazy or shows her love!)
The girls always enjoy a visit north because they get to see all of their family--especially their cousins.
They had great fun with Aubrey and Domenic.

There was camping, flying, reading and lots of fun!
The girls also learned how to play tackle football and did some racing outside! They had a great visit:)

There are always long faces the day we have to leave :(

...and we're off .............

A Trip Home

We made it to Pittsburgh on Thursday evening-late eastern time. We have been enjoying family. The girls were very well behaved for the 12hr drive---better than ever actually!
They have really enjoyed this time with all of their Uncles, Aunts, cousins, GG, and Gram.
Domenic taught them how to play football and basketball---oh, tackle football!!!!
Faith has a bump and bruise on her forehead the size of a small plum but was a great sport about it all;she's actually quite a scrapper:)
Anyway, we are heading back to Hazel Green on Monday. Pictures will follow soon-I hope. We pack Tuesday and leave town Wednesday for our long journey West!
Talk to ya soon

Goodbyes

It is our Sunday tradition to start the day with pancakes with dad and then get dressed for church. The girls are insainely girlie---I mean, they must wear a dress and tights!! I don't know where they get that---I mean, how often do you see me in a dress?
Anyway, they had to say their goodbyes today at both churches:( They were sad about that----they really love attending the Rock:)
Anyway, they were very cute in their dresses today and were sad hearted...

Through the sadness, we found some joy! They are now excited because they know that saying goodbye here means they will see their Gram soon:)
