FOG CITY

We decided to have a family day and make a trip to the city---San Francisco that is. It was dry and slightly overcast, but not too bad!

We walked some of the bridge, drove down Lombard street, and had ice cream and chocolate at Ghirardelli:) It was a great day!!

THE BEAN!!!!!!

Who knew that the Jelly Belly Factory was right here in northern ca!!! We are just lovin' what this state has to offer:)
The factory is in Fairfield-about an hour and a half from here. The tours are daily, every 15minutes and they are free!!!!However, you could only take photos in the store and gathering area-not on the factory floor:( So, no pics of their secret will be revealed :( sorry

The Reagan pic and the bear pic are made from thousands of jelly belly's by artists. There is a whole gallery of them---including Elvis! Very cool---tasty and time consuming too!
There was a jelly belly vending machine--why aren't these everywhere?
Also, a sampling bar! Yep, a jelly belly sampling bar. You can taste every flavor that they make... We tasted everything from apple pie a la mode to grape crush to bubble gum...The place just smelled edible too! A kids dream here.
And, did I mention that the tour was free???

We learned that the beans that aren't perfect are called "belly flops" and they are sold at half price! We bought a 2lb bag of course...

Overall, it was a sweet trip:) And, I am sure that we can find reason to visit again!!!!!!!!

Mrs Grossman's

Who knew that the largest sticker factory in the US was right here in CA!!!! We decided to take the girls to check it out. The drive was about 25minutes--not too bad.
Mrs Grossman started her sticker business on her dining room table in 1975!!! The first sticker was the red heart. Her factory is now the largest in the US and has the only laser cutter! It was a pretty educational morning:)
The girls were in kid heaven! Stickers galore. Animals, holidays, sports, fairies, shapes, cities, words, dolls, hearts, dresses, and more!

Elephant Seals

We took a little drive south yesterday to check out a large display of elephant seals. Apparently-it's pup season! We went to Ano Nuevo State Park-Reserve. Thousands of seals swim to these shores for mating and pup season. The females are pregnant for 11months. We watched a pup being born-it took less than 5minutes! The mothers nurse their pups for 28days on the beach and then swim off and leave them.

We walked a total of about three miles--the kids did relatively well:) They did alot of walking for little legs. Thankfully, mom and dad provided piggyback and shoulder rides at some points. The girls were really into watching the seals and listening to the trumpet calls of the males!! But, I thinnk they enjoyed playing in the sand more:)
