Crafts!

Spring time often means more crafts for us.  Here, the girls are making kite-suncatchers in their Academy class:)

We also took a trip to the pottery studio that afternoon.  Dalaina chose to paint a rabbit!

And Faith, her very own plate:)

The thing about the pottery is that we have to wait a week before we get to see the final piece!
So, we'll show you how they turned out when we get them:)

It's out!!!

Faith's adult tooth grew in half way about 2 or 3 weeks ago.  We have been "wiggling" it for a long time and finally......I pulled it out last night:)

...and into a baggie for the tooth fairy it went!

...that was last night and today-at 7am- I was awakened by a gleaming young girl in my doorway who was holding a dollar bill!   She told me she got a dollar because she worked so hard and long on the tooth!
Already this evening, the adult tooth has moved right into place--AMAZING!

Tahoe

We had the opportunity to take a last minute trip to Tahoe!  And, wow---what fun we had:)
We did snow tubing for an hour---which was exhausting but awesome.  Then, we decided to teach ourselves to snow board!!!!!!
Right, yes, we are crazy people.  This trip to the mountain had plenty of tears, screaming, falling, laughing, snow ball throwing, wet pants, and oh, falling!!!!!
After we set the girls and let them go, they were amazing!!  They actually looked like they knew what they were doing:)
Here are some photos~

Faith- "resting"

....thank goodness for the soul that decided there needed to be a magic carpet in the middle of the mountain!

Dalaina- "resting"

...hind sight, as we all know, is 20/20.  Next time, helmets and lessons!!

Look at Dalaina go!

...of course she was heading right for a JUMP!!!!

what we didn't know how to do was stop and turn--minor details, right?!  especially since there are huge rocks and trees everywhere.  (again hind sight)   When I saw the danger ahead, all I would do is yell "sit" and they would do just that, which means "fall" !

Here, Faith was doing great!!

Rule number 1--don't let the little ones touch you while you are strapped to your board!

Dad-helping out, well, trying:)
(notice Faith coming down behind them~  she cruised right by me and I nearly missed it)

I said nearly missed it--of course I got a picture~  she looks like a pro!

Oh, it was a great weekend:)  We certainly will remember it for a long time!  I'll especially remember my daughters letting their boards slide all the way down the mountain, me diving into the snow face first to catch atleast one of the boards,  the man on the lift above us yelling at me for my children not have their boards attached to their feet, Faith and I failing miserably at trying to get off of the lift-(we fell and just stayed lying down in the snow so the lift could go over us-only to have the man push the emergency stop button and come untangle our feet and pick us up), buying a bottle of water (because I was parched and had tonsillitis) for $4.00 only to have it fall out of my pocket while riding the lift up the mountain, and oh, I could go on but the tears from laughter are obstructing my typing!!!  I won't even go into how my poor body felt the next morning!

Roller Skating!

Yup, roller skating!  Think back, if you dare, to roller rink days:)  Oh, I cringed at the idea....but, decided to brave it for the sake of my children. I decided that they couldn't go through life without atleast trying it.  So, try it they did!!!!!!!!!!

Faith did alot of this~

....and Dalaina did a lot of this.  I dont think her wheels could have been tightened any more!

...and Faith did more of this~

After 1 hour, they finally got some courage and started to enjoy falling:)   The owner played some games and the girls actually had fun!  Dalaina even got a prize for being the girl who tried the hardest at the stomp, stomp, clap, clap!!!  She got a way cool jelly fish on a string that blinks.
~~~~As we were leaving, they asked if we could come back everytime~~~
A Backyard Field Guide
Science is so fun!   We're learning about animals with their skeltons on the outside----ie insects!  So, we read through some insect flash cards, learned some facts, then headed outside to see what we could find.  The girls each had a journal in hand and a pencil, and I had the camera!
We saw lots of life!
...a bug stuck in a web
a fly
...these leaves were like felt, they were waterproof~ it was cool
...a beetle of some sort
...beautiful flowers
this plant is cool, whatever it is?
They had fun learning and the journals turned out great:)  We finished up science with a walk around our new neighborhood.  Then, headed inside for hot chocolate and "A Bug's Life."
...........A good morning!!!!
