KIDS DAY!!!!!!!!!!
A few weeks ago, Faith questioned the fact that there was a mother's day and a father's day, but no kids day! So, we agreed we would create a special day in March...and, yesterday was the day at our house! We started the day by making chocolate chip pancakes:) Dalaina helped me squish the chips into the pancakes and she loved it! Then, the girls gots dressed---in dresses of course. I told them that they could wear whatever they wanted. Faith, she picked out her black velvet dress, blue sweater tights, and brown clogs!!! She has no care for fashion. She was very happy and proud of herself though:) Dalaina, she picked out a polka dot dress with cream colored tights and a pink sweater. Very coordinated:) She was quite pleased with herself!!
Then, we did a little bit of learning. We had a penny candy store. I labeled the candies with the price and then I gave the girls a pile of coins to spend. It was a great little coin/money lesson for Faith!
After David awoke, we headed to Carrow's--about 2pm. The girls selected breakfast for lunch; Faith had bacon, eggs, toast and fruit and Dalaina chose oatmeal and fruit! Then, of course, they each had a fudge sundae:)
After that, we had to get the gifts. We went to good old Walmart and wow, I am sure we were there for an hour! We went up and down each aisle and saw every toy and heard "I want this" about 20times. And, when I say we, I mean me and the girls because David ran off to look at stuff---anything but girl toys!
Anyway, finally they made their selection and we headed out. We took them to the park--yep, in dresses and tights--so they could get some exercise! And, then we went home and opened their new toys for play!
It was a great day! They were so full of love and manners, it was great:)
I found the day a great experience. It was laid back, fun, and just what they needed.
I think sometimes it is easy to forget about what is important--that being time with your children! I also realize that learning can come in many different forms. There are always teachable moments in everyday:)
